Top Chef – Episode 3 recap

baseball in my soup

Hey chef, you wanna tell me why there’s a baseball in my soup?

ahh dam

We lost Ron this week. Large portions, even in a baseball park snack inspired challenge, sent Ron packing.

But the real news began with the quickfire, which pitted Aaron vs Katie. Aaron had a chance to take on Kerianne, but the the produces dismay he didn’t.

And the winner? Need I say his name? Of course it’s Gregory, getting crafy with that crudo.

Let’s take a look at our Cheftestant Scorecard.

scorecard ep3 final

Two strikes against Ron, he was in the bottom for two elimination challenges and the second time he got sent home. At this rate Kerianne’s days are numbered. We can also see the fan favorite Mei has a sparkling record, but what about Gregory? He’s on fire. He’s taken home two quickfires, two elimination challenges, and he’s been in the top 3 every episode so far.

In other news:

Some say Mei’s SEG is a sure tell that she took home the gold. We can obviously tell Sable is happy. Katsuji strikes again. What does his face say? We know he has a huge arsenal to choose from, and for this triple selfie he chose a slightly cocked head side smirk scrunch. I think he knows something we don’t.

  1. LOL these recaps never cease to amuse me. Looking at the crudo again, I did indeed forget that this was a baseball challenge. It just looks like refined dining. Also, Mei is already good at selling products. That photo makes me want to buy that fashionable hat :).

  2. @lamekenzo remind me what the symbols in the cheftestent scorecard mean again? What are the red and green lines?

    1. We got a ribbon for elimination challenge, fire for quickfire, and green and red tallys for being in the top or bottom 3 of the elimination challenge.

      2. She has a strike against her for her hero chicken. Saved the day. I was surprised that Gregory has so much yet everyone has at least one mark of some kind. Look at Aaron, he has been getting lots of coverage lately but not ending up with many marks.
